While many of Google’s employees had already received their new company flagship beast for free for sometime, the specs were not officially confirmed until today. So here they are and not too different from what was rumored: A 3.7-inch AMOLED display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, compass, GPS, accelerometer, light and proximity sensor, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a multicolored LED under the trackball. There are also two mics onboard, one on the bottom and one on the back, for the purpose of noise cancellation. However much to the disappointment of many, the Google Phone will not support multi-touch.
For those who have long been interested in Google’s first phone, the HTC-made smartphone is now available via Google’s official Nexus One page. Pricing wise, if you choose to buy directly from Google, you’ll be able to get your hands on an unlocked version for $529, shipping to the US, UK, Singapore and Hong Kong. Additionally, if you prefer a contract instead, Vodafone will be offering the Google Nexus Phone in Europe during Spring this year while T-Mobile in the US is offering a contract now for the Nexus One for $179, Verizon Wireless will also be offering the Nexus One soon.
